Chris brings 28 years of experience across brand, product and service innovation to Lippincott.
During the two decades he was at R/GA, Chris helped grow the agency from a small digital studio to a full-service agency of over 1,500 people globally. Now as the leader of Lippincott's Innovation Practice, Chris draws upon his deep expertise in design thinking and technology disruption to help our clients grow and create meaning for their customers.
- What makes Lippincott a special place to work?
We value both rigor and craft in equal measure, and that’s never going to change — but how we adapt our offerings to market realities will. That Lippincott has continued to lead this evolution over so many years is what makes it such a special place to work.
- If you weren’t in this profession, what would you be?
I’m not sure I’d rather be anywhere else. I love the freedom to invent and imagine new possibilities, and to do that with both passion and purpose. Perhaps I’d join a non-profit or a startup — but I’d miss spanning categories, drawing insights across brands and industries to disrupt others.
- Where do you find your inspiration?
Keeping an open mind. Paying attention and connecting the dots. It’s often the unexpected discoveries that yield the most meaningful results. I habitually seek diversity in teams and exposure. With that, travel is amazing — it gently shifts your perspective, while triggering empathy and understanding.
I’ve learned that the requisite insight to develop meaningful, differentiated value comes from embracing diversity while acting with empathy.
- What did school actually teach you?
To stretch. I’m a polymath and love to explore. I studied art and design, business, science and technology, then pursued study abroad. Each new exposure taught me something different in terms of process or approach. I learned to value breadth of field, not merely depth of expertise.
- Who do you most want to meet? What would you say to them?
I suspect it would be Leonardo de Vinci. I’d ask, “how did you do it?” I can’t think of anyone who had more range in their career — and more success across professions.
- Who would you change places with for a day?
It might sound a bit odd, but likely my daughter. I often try to look through younger eyes to see the shape of things to come, as accelerated change is now the norm.
